The intricacies offered in Zimbabwean rhythmic patterns will inform our movement vocabulary in this workshop. Zimbabwean dance offers tools for internalizing rhythm through repetition and duration while deepening our individual grounded and weighted movement. About the Artist:
Rujeko Dumbutshena(Zimbabwe/US) Rujeko is a Zimbabwean born dancer, teacher, cultural arts community organizer, and performing artist of what she terms her Pan-African dance practices. She received her MFA from the University of New Mexico, and is Assistant Professor of African Dance at the University of Florida. She conducts community based participatory research to promote sustainable development projects through cultural arts production.
